Teacher will give an introduction how punch cards work and how the holes are translated as notes on music. Students will then be given empty sheet music papers to write out their own simple songs, ie. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star etc.
Students will then be given empty music box card strips and they can punch holes to them according to their sheet music plan.
At the end of the lesson every student can play their song in a group and discuss.
Discussion:
Did it matter how far apart the holes on the same line were? How did it affect the song when played?
Can you have multiple notes playing at the same time? How?
